Big Ten Players think highly of Iowa's Kirk Ferentz and DE Adrian Clayborn

Players around the Big Ten Conference have a lot of respect for Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz, as well as Iowa's top all-American candidate, senior DE Adrian Clayborn.

Good choice in Terrelle Pryor as pre-season offensive player of the year, but not sure agree with defensive pick

The Big Ten media has picked Ohio State junior QB Terrelle Pryor for the offensive nod for the second straight season and Michigan State senior LB Greg Jones for the defensive nod for the second straight season.

Pryor in '09 lead Ohio State to their fifth straight Big Ten title, then victory in the 2010 Rose Bowl, with a win over Oregon.

Jones is a tackling machine for the Spartans, but MSU finished 6-7 overall in '09 and came up short in competing for a Big Ten title. Our choice would be Iowa senior DE Adrian Clayborn, who was dominating in wins over Arizona, Penn State and Georgia Tech for Iowa. He is a fine athlete at the DE position for the Iowa Hawkeyes, who finished second to Ohio State in the Big Ten in '09. The Hawkeyes lost in OT the the Buckeyes by a field goal in Columbus last season.

The Big Ten preseason offensive and defensive players of the year selected, were Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, and Michigan State linebacker Greg ...

Big Ten Football: A look at the Quarterbacks for 2009

Ohio State has won a share or won outright the past four Big Ten Conference titles. One common denominator has been that the Ohio State quarterback has lead the conference in pass efficiency each of the four seasons. In 2004, the Buckeyes finished 4-4 in the Big Ten and their top QB wasn't in the Top 3 in passing efficiency that season.

  1. Terrelle Pryor, soph., Ohio State*
  2. Juice Williams, senior, Illinois*
  3. Daryll Clark, senior, Penn State*
