NCAA and NIT Brackets look good for 2019.

Cedar Rapids, IA --- From the conversation, both the NCAA and NIT appear to be well put together. Of course, we need to play the games to really find out, how March Madness will unfold.

The committee did a good job. Yes, some will argue for TCU over Belmont,
but we shall see, how the mid major plays out in the Big Dance?

Who is this year's cinderella?

Loyola-Illinois isn't dancing in the Big Dance this season, after reaching the Final 4 in 2018.  They will be in Omaha, facing Creighton in the first round of the NIT.

Of the teams in the Big Dance.
The Big Ten lead the conferences with eight teams selected. The ACC though
had three teams picked as number one seeds!
Tuesday, will soon arrive and we will begin the First Four games in the NCAA Tournament, as well, as games in this year's NIT.

Belmont, Temple, Arizona State and St. John's were the Final Four in. They
will all play for the 11th seed slot in the East and West regions in 2019.

Clemson and Iowa are the two remaining unbeaten teams in FBS College Football.
Iowa City, IA -- The #1 Clemson Tigers (11-0, 8-0 ACC Atlantic) and the #3 Iowa Hawkeyes (11-0, 7-0 B1G West), in each of the major polls, are the two sole remaining unbeaten teams in FBS College Football heading into the final weekend of the regular season for each team. Each will take to the road to face rivals, as the Tigers head to Columbia to face South Carolina, while Iowa faces Nebrasaka @ Lincoln.

By the way, Clemson has lost the last three games in Columbia. The game will kickoff on Saturday at 11 a.m. CST on ESPN. The Tigers beat South Carolina 35-17, last season. The Gamecocks fell to 3-8, after a 23-22 loss to The Citadel on Saturday.

Who are the Top 4 right now? There is no secret that Iowa and the Big Ten are not the favorites of ESPN.

ESPN likes the Big 12, with four of the Top 10. Florida almost got knocked off
on Saturday, when they were forced into OT against Florida Atlantic.
Yes, Iowa is 11-0  in 2015 ...
  1. Alabama - over an undefeated Clemson, not sure that is completely right?
  2. Clemson - Top undefeated team in college football ,,,
  3. Oklahoma - They look like the best one loss team, outside of the Crimson Tide, but they nearly lost at home to TCU on Saturday!
  4. Oklahoma State - not sure I agree with this one at all, since non-conference including zero Power 5 opponents ,,,
  5. Iowa - only remaining Big Ten team that is undefeated ... win out and they are in the College Football Playoff in 2015.
There are some big, big games in the College Football Playoff this week:
  • Alabama @ Auburn on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on CBS
  • Notre Dame @ Stanford on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on FOX
  • Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ABC

#Hawkeyes Win, Clinch #B1G West Division title! https://t.co/7YCNo02fpy
Iowa at 11-0 for the first time in program history.
The Big Ten championship game will be determined in the East on Saturday. The West was already determined this past Saturday, when Iowa defeated Purdue 40-20, as the Hawkeyes finished out the season 7-0 at home.

  1. Iowa (7-0 B1G West) - the Hawkeyes haven't played a top team in the East, but they have defeated everyone they have faced all season and are the only unbeaten remaining in the conference.
  2. Michigan State (6-1 B1G East) - the Spartans opened play in November with a late minute loss @ Nebraska, but took care of business @ Ohio State, with a field goal on the final play to win 17-14 and fall right back into the driver's seat in the B1G East ...
  3. Michigan (6-1 B1G East) - They need help in East Lansing, as first year coach Jim Harbaugh seeks to bring the Wolverines their first win over the Buckeyes, since 2011, when Luke Fickell enjoyed a year leading his alma mater ...
  4. Ohio State (6-1 B1G East) - Well the regular season conference win streak is done at 30, as the Buckeyes fall for the first time in the regular season in conference play under Urban Meyer ... some interesting comments from two players, as a trip to face the Team Up North is next in Ann Arbor ...
  5. Northwestern (5-2 B1G West) - after back to back 5-7 seasons, under Pat Fitzgerald, his tenth season at his alma mater has more joys than cries ... short drive down to Soldier Field to face Illinois, who the Wildcats lost to 47-33 last season!
  6. Wisconsin (5-2 B1G West) - road trip ahead for first year Paul Chryst @ Minnesota ...
  7. Penn State (4-3 B1G East) - second year coach James Franklin has both the Buckeyes and Wolverines hoping the Nittany Lions can play spoiler to the Spartans B1G season ...
  8. Nebraska (3-4 B1G West) - a win in the Heroes Game would give the Huskers 6th under first year coach Mike Riley!
  9. Minnesota (2-5 B1G West) - new coach Tracy Claeys earned his first B1G win, after three straight losses to Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa, with win over Illinois ... now seeking 6th win of season and first win over Wisconsin, since 2003 ...
  10. Indiana (1-6 B1G East) - after getting their first B1G win in Maryland, they seek another B1G win @ Purdue to become bowl eligible for the first time, since 2007!
  11. Illinois (2-5 B1G West) - Interim coach Bill Cubit hasn't earned the job ... Soldier Field is the finale of the regular season, as the Fighting Illini work to become bowl eligible!
  12. Purdue (1-6 B1G West) - the Boilermakers haven't dropped three straight in the battle for the Old Oaken Bucket, since 1944-47, so third year coach Darrell Hazell may become the next?
  13. Rutgers (1-6 B1G East) - the Scarlet Knights lone win was over the Hoosiers, but they may be in the cellar at season's end, if they don't take care of business at home to close out 2015!
  14. Maryland (0-7 B1G East) - the Terrapins will determine who their new coach will be, as Mike Locksley is holding the interim title for now ...

MSU's Tyler O'Connor completed 7-of-12 passes for 89 yards and one touchdown while Barrett went
9-for-16  for 46 yards and one TD. O'Connor picked up 11 of his 25 rushing yards (on eight carries) while
converting a crucial fourth-and-3 situation on MSU's second touchdown drive. Barrett let the Buckeyes
with 15 carries for 44 yards. Regular QB Connor Cook was injured and couldn't play for MSU.

The Cornhuskers jump out the Big Ten West cellar, at 2-4, with overcoming the 12 point deficit in the fourth quarter. The Spartans still control their own destiny at 4-1 in the B1G East, with Maryland, @ Ohio State and Penn State left in November.

Iowa 9-0, 5-0 B1G West in 2015 after Week 1 of November ...
The Hawkeyes are 9-0 for the second time in program history. For the second time in the Kirk Ferentz era, and the second time, after taking down Indiana, but this time around, it was in Bloomington, Indiana where the Hawkeyes pulled to 9-0 on the season.

redding iowa
Iowa @ Indiana was a hard fought game in Bloomington, as Iowa makes it
6 of last 7 in the Iowa-IU series, with a 35-27 win on Saturday over Hoosiers.

#9 (#10/#11 in the polls) Iowa (9-0, 5-0) defeated Indiana (4-5, 0-5), 35-27 Saturday at Memorial Stadium, in Bloomington. The Hawkeyes have won six of the last seven in the Iowa-IU sereis.

"First of all, just really proud of our football team. The way they competed today, it was really a big win for us, certainly, and something we've emphasized to our team is winning in November. Our best teams have done that and if you're going to compete at a championship level, that's really imperative. Guys did a great job competing out there today. I thought they really prepared well this week and certainly gutted it out and got the job done there in the 4th quarter. And I think if you look at the 4th quarter it's a bit representative of our football team. The defense came up with some big plays, the offense drove the ball when we really needed it, special teams factored in, and the team really responded throughout the course of the game. They did a good job to respond to whatever took place out there. Those are all positive." - Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz
Iowa is 5-0 in the Big Ten for the third time under Kirk Ferentz. Iowa opened 5-0 in the Big Ten in 2009 (5-0) and 2002 (8-0). The next two weeks, Iowa will be back home at Kinnick Stadium to host Minnesota and Purdue.

For the second time in the Kirk Ferentz era, Iowa is 9-0 to kickoff a season.
Iowa has won five consecutive true road games for the first time since 2008-09. The Hawkeyes won a trip to the Orange Bowl in 2009. A 13-0 finish in 2015 may be the Hawkeyes' ticket for a return date in the Orange Bowl, since the 4th seed is slated for Miami this year.

The Hawkeyes keep rolling, while the Hoosiers are seeking their first B1G win of 2015. Next up for IU: vs. Michigan.
Iowa has scored 31 or more points six times this season, including the last three games. The Hawkeyes are averaging 27.5 in Big Ten games on offense and are giving up 12.8 yards on defense, second best in the Big Ten in 2015.

Iowa junior QB #16 goes over for a touchdown to close out scoring in the 2nd
quarter. Iowa took a 21-17 lead at the half, with less than 25 seconds remaining.
Despite the groin and hip injury, Beathard fought for each yard and scored.
Junior QB C.J. Beathard is 10-0 as Iowa’s starting quarterback, a record that includes a 5-0 mark on the road, a 5-0 mark at home, and a 6-0 mark in the Big Ten. Numbers include 162-of-278 passing for 2,076 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions, and 247 yards rushing with four rushing touchdowns. He is the first quarterback in school history to win his first nine career starts.

Iowa junior CB #14 Desmond King with his 8th interception on the 2015 season.
In the last two games against Indiana's QB Nate Sudfeld, Iowa had back to back
Pick 6 interceptions, but King has two interceptions now against Sudfeld in 2 wins.
Junior CB Desmond King recorded his eighth interception of the season in the fourth quarter. He leads the nation in the category and ties the Iowa school record for interceptions in a single season, joining Lou King (1981) and Nile Kinnick (1939).

Iowa junior WR #89 Matt VandeBerg is the Hawkeyes go-to receiver for the
2015 offense, as the Hawkeyes reach 5-0 in the B1G West and 9-0 overall, with
the 35-27 win @ Indiana on Saturday. VandeBerg had 5 catches for 68 yards.
The 1981 season was extremely special in the modern era; the 2015 season is on a journey to reach the first-ever Big Ten Championship Game, if the Hawkeyes can finish it out in November? Iowa has a two-game lead in the Big Ten West, ahead of Wisconsin, who the Hawkeyes beat 10-6 to open the 2015 Big Ten season, in Madison. Last year, the Badgers finished 7-1 to win the Big Ten, but lost the Big Ten opener to Northwestern. This year, they need help by others.

Iowa Kirk Ferentz and the 2015 Hawkeyes before the game.
Senior PK Marshall Koehn scored five points today with five PATs. Koehn has 141 career points, 19th all-time. Ferentz chose to go for touchdowns on Saturday, rather than use his placekicker on fourth down for field goals. The Hawkeyes finished with five offensive touchdowns. They were stopped on fourth down, but not enough to change the outcome of the game.

Iowa sophomore RB #25 Akrum Wadley "next man in" on a 65 yard
touchdown run against Indiana to give Iowa a 7-0 lead in the opening minute.
Sophomore RB Akrum Wadley’s 65-yard touchdown run on Iowa’s first possession was a career long. Wadley rushed for 120 yards on 12 carries. He has two 100-yard rushing games this season, three in his career. Wadley was injured in the third quarter and did not return.

Junior RB LeShun Daniels had his first career multi-touchdown game. Daniels scored from four yards in the second quarter, and again from one yard in the fourth quarter. Iowa has had three running backs this season deal with ankle injuries.

Iowa junior RB #29 LeShun Daniels with one of his two touchdowns @ IU.
The Hawkeyes should have all four running backs back in action, as they head into next Saturday's night game with Minnesota.

Iowa senior WR #4 Tevaun Smith plays an important role in 2015.
Senior WR Tevaun Smith had 4 catches for 55 yards. He moved from 30th to 28th on Iowa’s all-time list for receiving yards (1,262). Smith was a victim of targeting late in the second quarter. He returned in the third quarter, despite the bumps and bruises to his back.

Iowa senior WR #17 Jacob Hillyer for one of his many important catches.
Senior WR Jacob Hillyer set career bests in receptions (4) and receiving yards (53). He has been very strong in the running game blocking this season, but this game, he really shined in the passing game.

Iowa defensive stats during the Hawkeyes 35-27 win @ Indiana.
Iowa sophomore MLB #43 Josey Jewell lead Iowa on Saturday on defense.
Sophomore MLB Josey Jewell had a team-high 15 tackles and 11 solo stops. Both are career-highs. He was a play-maker all over the field and is showing outstanding leadership, with the play calls for the Iowa defense in 2015.

The Iowa offense has taken care of business in the 4th quarter all season long.
Head coach Kirk Ferentz has 124 wins as a member of the Big Ten Conference, eighth all-time. Ferentz has 73 Big Ten wins, eighth all-time. Back in 1982, Iowa's game @ Indiana went down to a final stop at the Iowa 2 yard line to preserve a 24-20 Iowa win. Today, the game had far more on the line, but the Hawkeyes didn't allow it to get too close.

Jordan Howard
Indiana junior RB #8 Jordan Howard, the transfer from UAB, scored two
touchdown runs against Iowa on Saturday. He ran 22 times for 174 yards,
2 touchdowns, but was limited in the second half, after an outstanding 1st half.
Indiana won the toss and deferred to the second half. Iowa received the opening kickoff in eight of nine games this season (Wisconsin), and has outscored its opponents 50-16 in the first quarter. In 17 seasons as Iowa’s head coach, Kirk Ferentzand the Hawkeyes received the opening kickoff in 170-of-209 games (103-67). Iowa has started the game on defense in 39-of-209 games under Ferentz (21-18).

Indiana senior QB #7 Nate Sudfeld came up short again in 2015.
"Obviously, we've been competitive all season against the best teams in the nation, but I'm tired of being competitive," Indiana senior QB Nate Sudfeld said. "We're good enough, I know I'm a good enough player to win these games, and I know we have good enough players around us to outplay the teams we're playing against. It's up to us players."

Instant replay was used three times today.
  • Indiana first down reception (confirmed)
  • Indiana personal foul: targeting on Simmons (confirmed)

Let's crown five outright Power Five Champs in 2014 with first College Football Playoff

Cedar Rapids, IA -- The new four team playoff creates a better Bowl System. It also provides for a fixed +1 system for a NCAA FBS Championship Game, which structures better than the old BCS system.

The season becomes more interesting with the CFP. The final bowl picture is better handled with 12 teams slotted into six bowls.

The final result should better bowl match-ups with the Top 12 teams matched up. The outright conference team can also be crowned for each Power 5 conference.

The top Two Bowls get a +1 system. It is a bowl system with the top two rated bowls getting a title game (+1).

Iowa fans despite the disappointment can get a great bowl opportunity, since we play in the B1G. As long as you are bowl eligible, the bowl selection process should provide far mar balanced match-ups.

The idea of Iowa vs. Stanford is great. Neither team had the type of season they wanted. But, 15 practices can award each with an opportunity to spring into 2015 with some momentum.

This is a better bowl system with a +1 for top two bowls. The BCS didn't create good match-ups, outside the picking of #1 vs. #2.

So, who should get Top 4 spots?

But, ultimately the Top 11 Power 5 teams and Top non-power conference team will get slotted into a better bowl match-up, than the old BCS.

Baylor vs. TCU would be a good rematch. Not the same as OU vs. Nebraska, but who would be #1 on a neutral field? Who is the outright Big 12 champion for 2014?

Are either worthy of #1 - no.

The Committee should reward Ohio State, since injury hurt them in their lone non-conference loss. The QB injury hit them 2 times and they appear for the most part as plug and play team. They went undefeated In conference play and outright champion.

Let Baylor (8-1) and TCU (8-1) play for a Big 12 outright champion game in this year's bowl picture.

Sugar - Alabama (8-1) vs. Florida State (9-0)

Rose - Oregon (8-1) vs. Ohio State (9-0)

Conference titles matter and the four above won outright titles.

The new system is a great way to preserve and improve bowl system, unlike BCS, and allow for a +1 Game.

TCU vs. Baylor on neutral field would crown an outright Big 12 winner. Let's see the real champion is in 2014.

peace

TCU hadn't played ISU yet, which hurt them in SOS. It helped them previous in the weekly rankings.

Iowa is a "wholesome" and "no-nonsense" program like Nebraska

Nebraska will likely be favored as the team to beat in the first Legends division race of the Big Ten in 2011. Gerry DiNardo of the Big Ten Network labels Nebraska as potentially the team to beat, while calling Iowa a "wholesome" and "no-nonsense" program like Nebraska.

The Big Ten Conference will hold its Media Day in Chicago on July 28Th and 29Th, including the 40Th Annual Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon. The SEC held its Media Day this past week to kickoff the beginning activities leading up to the 2011 College Football season. The Big 12, without Colorado and Nebraska, will kickoff on Monday and Tuesday.

Thirty-six student athletes will join head coaches in Chicago for Media Day. Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, entering his 13Th season as head coach of the Hawkeyes, is bringing DT Mike Daniels, WR Marvin McNutt, Jr. and LB Tyler Nielsen. All three players are seniors for the 2011 Hawkeye football team.

The 2011 season will kickoff for the Big Ten on Thursday, September 1St in Madison.

  • UNLV at Wisconsin
    7:00 p.m.
    ESPN (HD)

Wisconsin is the reigning co-champion of the Big Ten and represented the Big Ten in the 2011 Rose Bowl, losing 19-21 to TCU. Excitement in Madison is high with transferring QB Russell Wilson, from North Carolina State, competing for the open QB position in 2011. Wisconsin could be the team to beat in the Leaders division in 2011? DiNardo like the Badgers and "window" of opportunity.

The Hawkeyes finished 8-5 in 2010 and haven't won a share of the Big Ten, since 2004. Will the young Hawkeyes make noise in 2011? Iowa will start 2011 with a new QB, as junior James Vandenberg takes over the reigns, with Ricky Stanzi, Iowa's first 3-0 bowl winner as a starting QB, moves on to the NFL.

Our final CIDSports College Football Top 25, after 14 weeks of the College Football as regular season concludes for all, but Army-Navy game on Dec. 11

It has been an interesting season, with all the non-AQ talk falling short as we hit late November. Boise State (11-1, 7-1 WAC) nearly got it done, but a Week 13 date @ Nevada Wolf Pack (12-1, 7-1 WAC) cost the Broncos dearly for the BCS in 2010.

The Oregon Ducks (12-0, 9-0 Pac 10) have played outstanding all year, as has the top non-BCS program in 2010: the TCU Horned Frogs (12-0, 8-0 MWC). The BCS title game should be outstanding this season. The rest of the BCS bowl line up will likely do better with some adjusting, but that is for another post.

Others jumped from the preseason unrated programs to the Top 25 in 2010: Michigan State (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten), Nevada Wolf Pack (12-1, 7-1 WAC), Missouri Tigers (10-2, 6-2 Big 12 North), Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-2, 6-2 Big 12 South), Texas A&M Aggies (9-3, 6-2 Big 12 South), South Carolina Gamecocks (9-4, 5-3 SEC East), Mississippi State Bulldogs (8-4, 4-4 SEC West), West Virginia Mountaineers (9-3, 5-2 Big East), Hawaii Rainbows (10-3, 7-1 WAC) and

Several teams surprised in 2010, especially Auburn Tigers (13-0, 8-0 SEC West), Stanford Cardinal (11-1, 8-1 Pac 10) and Arkansas Razorbacks (10-2, 6-2 SEC West), who were all outside our preseason Top 25, but will finish 2010 in a BCS bowl. Congratulations to all three programs, especially Auburn for an undefeated season and a date with Oregon in the BCS title game.

Other programs didn't hit form in 2010, especially our preseason #7 Texas Longhorns (5-7, 2-6 Big 12 South), preseason #23 Cincinnati Bearcats (4-8, 2-5 Big East), preseason #25 Houston (5-7, 4-4 C-USA West). All three programs will be home for the Holidays in 2010.

We can't forget other programs, who will still bowl in 2010, but are not in the final regular season Top 25. Our preseason #4 Iowa Hawkeyes (7-5, 4-4 Big Ten). preseason #5 Florida Gators (7-5, 4-4 SEC East), preseason #11 Miami-FL (7-5, 5-3 ACC Coastal), preseason #14 Georgia Bulldogs (6-6, 3-5 SEC East), preseason #16 Brigham Young Cougars (6-6, 5-3 MWC), preseason #17 Texas Tech Red Raiders (7-5, 3-5 Big 12 South), preseason #19 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-6, 4-4 ACC Coastal), preseason #20 Penn State Nittany Lions (7-5, 4-4 Big Ten) and preseason #22 Pittsburgh Panthers (7-5, 5-2 Big East).

The season will likely be remembered most for conference realignment talk.

  • Nebraska is leaving the Big 12 for the Big Ten in 2011. Colorado is joining Utah from the MWC and moving to the Pac 10

  • The Big Ten and Pac 10 conferences will have 12 programs and new championship games

  • The Big 12 will lose two teams, so they will go to a nine game conference schedule, as the Pac 10 has enjoyed for several years and lose their conference championship game

  • BYU is becoming an Independent, joining Army, Navy and Notre Dame as the only Independents in FBS

  • Boise State is moving to the MWC from the WAC

  • But the MWC will be losing programs: BYU, Utah and TCU

  • TCU is the latest to join the list and will move to the Big East in 2012

  • Fresno State and Nevada will follow Boise State as WAC schools moving to the MWC

  • Will Hawaii stay or go? Talk in November is Hawaii wants to move for football only ...

  • If the WAC doesn’t add an eighth football school by 2012, the conference won’t lose its FBS status? Texas-San Antonio and Texas State are joining the WAC and moving to FBS

  • Congratulations to North Texas for hiring former ISU head coach Dan McCarney and electing to remain in the Sun Belt Conference, rather than move to the WAC

None of the nations FBS Independents have fewer than three losses heading into November. Navy and Army are both 5-3, while Notre Dame is 4-5, with only three games left for the Fighting Irish.

  11. LSU (7-1, 4-1 SEC West) 11 - The Tigers don't get a lot of respect, but on the field they didn't get it done @ Auburn in conference play. Week 9: Bye week, after first loss @ Auburn. Next: vs. #5 Alabama (7-1, 4-1 SEC West).

  14. Iowa (6-2, 3-1 Big Ten) 17 - The Hawkeyes two losses @ Arizona and vs. Wisconsin can be highlighted by poor special teams play. 17. Missouri (7-1, 3-1 Big 12 North) 8 - The Tigers picked up a nice home win over Oklahoma, but the game in Lincoln knocks the Tigers back in the Big 12 North. (tied) Nevada (7-1, 2-1 WAC) 25 - The Wolf Pack only lost was at Hawaii in conference play. Week 9: Won 56-42 vs. Utah State (2-6, 0-4 WAC). Next: @ Idaho (4-4, 1-2 WAC).

Out of the Top 25 after Week 9: former #23 Miami (FL) (5-3, 3-2 ACC Coastal) lost 19-24 to Virginia (4-4, 1-3 ACC Coastal).

We head into November with some outstanding races ahead. Will a non-BCS program get into the BCS Title Game this season? Will the Pac 10 and SEC allow one to get through the season unblemished?

Week 7: Another change at the Top of Polls, as #1 falls in the Big Ten

Last week, it was #1 Alabama falling @ South Carolina in Week 6. This week, it was #1 Ohio State falling @ #17 Wisconsin by the score of 31-18 in Week 7. In back to back weeks, #1 has fallen in College Football.

Further, South Carolina didn't take care of business in Week 7 either, falling 28-31 @ Kentucky. Texas went to Lincoln to take out Nebraska 20-13. There were some other teams in the Top 25 falling in Week 7, with some falling out of the Top 25.

Who's #1 after Week 7, heading into the first week of BCS Ratings for the 2010 College Football season? Here's our take, as we use both 2010 and last year as a compass to evaluate the Top 25 after Week 7. We are at the half way point for a lot of programs, as we head into Week 8.

CIDsports Top 25 after Week 7

  1. Boise State (6-0, 2-0 WAC) 2 - The Broncos win on the road in WAC play with a 48-0 win @ San Jose State (1-6, 0-2 WAC). Week 6: We have a change at the Top of the Polls: Alabama Falls, after loss @ SC in SEC

Week 6 had some interesting scores and outcomes. There is a major shake up in the Top 25, with former #1 Alabama Crimson Tide falling @ former #16 South Carolina, 21-35. Others were knocked off as well. Now, there are more questions, than answers as we closed out Week 6 of the 2010 season.

  • Is Ohio State ready to run with it the rest of the 2010 College Football season?

  • Is there really a clear cut #1? We had one briefly with Alabama, but now?

  • Who win in the SEC West? Can South Carolina win first SEC East division title ever?

  • Will teams continue to beat up on one another in various BCS conferences?

  • Will a non-BCS team emerge in the BCS title game for the first time this season?

  • Six teams are now bowl eligible heading into Week 7

The first BCS poll will come out next week. Here's a look at the first Harris Poll of the 2010 season, which is a part of the BCS Ratings. It is time to shake up the Top 25, after last year's defending BCS title holder goes down in the SEC ...

CIDSports Week Top 25 Poll

  1. Ohio State (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten) 2 - The toast of the Big Ten Conference moves up to #1, as the Buckeyes win 38-10 vs. Indiana (3-2, 0-2 Big Ten). Next: @ #17 Wisconsin (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten) against the program that owns three wins over the Buckeyes in the past decade.

  2. Boise State (5-0, 1-0 WAC) 3 - Will Boise stay in this spot? Time will tell, but if various BCS conference teams go undefeated for the season, it will likely be hard to keep out. Boise State is one of the most consistent FBS programs, with coach Chris Peterson in his fifth season. The Broncos win 57-14 over Toledo (3-3, 2-0 MAC West) in the final OOC game. Next: @ San Jose State (1-5, 0-1 WAC) back in WAC play in Week 7.

  3. TCU (6-0, 2-0 MWC) 4 - The Horned Frogs are not that far off Boise State. In back to back bowl games, the two programs have split. Next: vs. BYU (2-4, 1-1 MWC)), who pulled off an important MWC home win over San Diego State (3-2, 0-1 MWC) to end a four game losing streak for the Cougars.
