Who is Bowl Eligible heading into November in College Football?

Well, we know USC is ineligible, but here are the following teams that are bowl eligible thus far, heading into November 2010. A look at the standings in the FBS via ESPN.

  • Four schools in the ACC: Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech
  • Five teams in the soon to be smaller Big 12: Baylor, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State
  • None yet in the Big East per ESPN, but Syracuse should be.
  • Five teams in the Big Ten: Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin
  • Central Florida in C-USA is eligible
  • No FBS Independents are eligible at the present time, but Army and Navy are both 5-3
  • Four schools in the MAC: Northern Illinois, Ohio U, Temple and Toledo
  • Three schools in the MWC: San Diego State, TCU and Utah
  • Three schools in the Pac 10: Arizona, Oregon and Stanford
  • Six programs in the SEC, including five from West alone: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State, with South Carolina in East
  • None yet in the Sun Belt
  • Three programs in the WAC: Boise State, Hawaii and Nevada

There are some programs heading into November that will be home for the Holidays already:

  • Minnesota in the Big Ten
  • Memphis from C-USA
  • Five programs in MAC: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan
  • Three teams in the MWC: New Mexico, UNLV and Wyoming
  • Washington State in the Pac 10
  • Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt
  • Two programs in the WAC: New Mexico State and San Jose State
