Minnesota-Texas Football Series Canceled

The University of Minnesota official web site has reported that the Minnesota-Texas football series for '15 and '16 has been canceled.

"We are extremely disappointed that the series with Texas will not take
place. Our institution, student-athletes and fans were very excited about
having a nationally respected program like Texas on our schedule. However there
are complex rights issues in play that are beyond our control. It's unfortunate
that a mutually acceptable resolution could not be found that would have allowed
the games to be played."

The loss of Nebraska to the Big Ten in 2011 likely had very little to do with this decision. But, the University of Texas developing their own television network likely did. Why would the University of Minnesota desire to have this game limited to the State of Texas network for at least one game in the series?
