Week 6: For Iowa it's a Bye Week and for others it is Business as Usual

Tuesday night football: Troy (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) is @ Middle Tennessee (2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) on ESPN2 in a huge Sun Belt showdown. The #14 Iowa Hawkeyes (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten) have a bye week in Week 6, before heading up to Ann Arbor for a showdown with Michigan (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) in Big Ten play. Michigan State (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will play @ Michigan in Week 6.

Clayborn Earns Big Ten Defensive Honor - U of Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa - - University of Iowa senior defensive end Adrian Clayborn has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following Iowa's 24-3 win over Penn State last Saturday. The announcement came Monday from the Big Ten office ...

Iowa Football Has Break from Action this Weekend - U of Iowa
10/5/2010 - Iowa has an open week after defeating Penn State 24-3 in Kinnick Stadium to begin Big Ten Conference play. The Hawkeyes are 4-1, with home wins over Eastern Illinois, Iowa State, Ball State and Penn State and a loss at Arizona ...

A popular question on Iowa message boards, such as Rivals.com HawkeyeReport, is where would Iowa be ranked right now, if they had not been upset at the University of Arizona in Week 3? ESPN radio guy, Colin Cowherd on Monday called Iowa a Top 10 program, despite the loss in Tucson.

Should Notre Dame be the 12th team in the Big Ten?

Listening the Colin Cowherd today discuss Notre Dame athletics... I have to ask?

Should Notre Dame be in a football conference?

Charlie Weis has a young team at Notre Dame. The expectations are clearly out of whack. I agree with Colin Cowherd, only 3-4 teams are in the discussion year in and year out for the BCS Title Game. Notre Dame isn't likely to be one any time soon, if ever.

What does Notre Dame have to really play for? They are #2 among Catholic universities for football. Boston College owns them. Heck, they likely will find another way to toss them off the schedule to avoid the pain of it all.

It's too bad Notre Dame isn't a part of the Big East Conference for football. Though, they would already have a loss, since Pittsburgh took the Fighting Irish out in OT this year.

I wish Kevin White, new AD at Duke all the best. At least Duke is showing some life this fall in football. Heck, maybe Duke football can pass Notre Dame in the near future too.

Colin Cowherd - 3 worse traditions in Sports

  1. Drinking a glass of milk as champion of the Indianapolis 500 - agree
  2. The running of the bulls - does this really qualify as a sport?
  3. the Detroit Lions playing on Thanksgiving...

Colin Cowherd was going after the NFL for allowing the Detroit Lions to play on Thanksgiving and filling the TV airwaves in the process. The Detroit Lions started playing on Thanksgiving back in 1934 and annually back in 1945.

Colin, let them play... it's like throwing the Bad News Bears off the field in Houston during their baseball exposition.

Why is Baseball in America past its time...

Listening to Colin Cowherd today speak about Major League Baseball ... I have to ask, why is this guy the Commissioner?

How many other sports fans has he turned away from Major League Baseball in his tenure?
It's nearly November 4th, Election Day, and the World Series is in the same discussion?

Look at the weather the last week of October in America!

It's 10 pm Eastern... the game starts in 15 minutes?

And of course, lets create or set the rules on the fly and not tell anyone.

Soccer is a better sport than baseball today, in my opinion. It's not a great sport, but there is very little creditability in Major League Baseball today.
