ACC Game Day on Labor Day 2012

Monday, September 3rd: Labor Day

Georgia Tech at #18 VIRGINIA TECH 7:00 p.m. ESPN (HD) / espn3

On Thursday night, a SEC East match up started Week 1 off right.  The ACC will close out the first weekend of College Football with an ACC Coastal division showdown of their own.  By the way, for bragging rights, the ACC and SEC split games in two head to head matchups in Week 1.

#18 Virginia Tech won the Coastal division by two games in 2011.  The Hokies won by three games over the Yellow Jackets and won the Top 20 showdown at the time 37-26 in Atlanta.  So, this year the game returns to Blacksburg where the Hokies won in '10 28-21.  The Hokies are going for three straight over the Yellow Jackets and lead the series from coming over from the Big East 4-1.

Frank Beamer's 26th team in Blacksburg with Bud Foster's defense, since '95.  Paul Johnson is now in his 5th season in Atlanta.  Al Groh starts his 3rd season, after the NFL and HC stint at Virginia.

It should be a lively ACC game.  It has been 10 years, since the BCS title conversation involved the ACC.  Will the ACC step up in 2012?

Game on tonight in prime time.
