pappajohns.com Bowl: North Carolina State vs. Rutgers

The 2008 pappajohns.com Bowl will feature the North Carolina State Wolfpack (6-6, tied for 3Rd in ACC Atlantic Division) vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-5, tied for 2ND in the Big East) in Birmingham, AL. North Carolina State comes into the bowl game with a four game winning streak in the ACC, while Rutgers come in on a six game winning streak, including five Big East games.

Last season, Rutgers beat Ball State in the 2008 International Bowl 52-30, while North Carolina State stayed home for the holidays. Which hot team will continue their winning streak beyond the 2008 pappajohns.com Bowl? Rutgers has young bowl history, while NC State clearly has a stronger past as a basketball school. But, second year NC State coach Tom O'Brien brings experience and success over from Boston College.

Rutgers lost to five bowl teams: Fresno State, North Carolina, at Navy, at West Virginia and at Cincinnati, while North Carolina State losses came at South Carolina, at Clemson, South Florida, Boston College, Florida State and at Maryland, also all bowl teams. Both teams split among common opponents North Carolina and South Florida this season. Who is the most likely to win the 2008 pappajohn's Bowl?

Cidsports' prediction

North Carolina State 28
Rutgers 34
