• Louisiana Tech (1-0) at Western Kentucky (1-0) 7:00 pm on FS1 - The top two programs from each division square off in the C-USA opener for 2015. The Bulldogs made the title game last year and blew out the Hilltoppers at home last year, 59-10 with Iowa transfer Cody Sokol at quarterback. This year it is Florida transfer Jeff Driskel leading the LA Tech offense.

Friday, September 11th

C-USA vs. ACC match up in only second meeting in the new
in-state series. Miami-FL won and hosted the '13 game
34-6 to kickoff the season.

• Miami-FL (1-0) at Florida Atlantic (0-1) 7:00 pm on FS1 - The Hurricane won home opener 45-0 against Bethune-Cookman; while the Owls lost road opener at Tulsa 47-44. Miami-FL will take the less than an hour drive up North I-95 to meet the Owls in Week 2.

In the State of Utah: The Beehive Boot is the trophy.

• Utah State (1-0) at Utah (1-0) 8:00 pm on ESPN2 - It is the Battle of Brothers for the rights to the Beehive Boot in this in-state series, along with BYU. The Aggies won their opener 12-9 over Southern Utah; while the Utes won 24-17 in a prime-time game over Michigan at home last Thursday night. It is the 112th meeting in the series. Home team has won three straight in this one. Last played in 2013, in season opener, Utah won 30-26, then won @ BYU in Week 4 20-13 to win the bragging rights in the Beehive State!

Post Christmas Bowl Games on Thursday feature two MAC programs in action

Thursday, December 26th Little Caesars Bowl: Bowling Green (10-3) vs. Pittsburgh (6-6) at 5 p.m. on ESPN (HD) The Pitt Panthers are filling in for the B1G role, since the Big Ten didn't have an eligible team to provide for this year, so it is a MAC vs. ACC match up at Ford Field in Detroit. Preview Bowling Green is 4-6 in bowl games. The Green Falcons lost last year's Military Bowl to San Jose State. Pittsburgh is 12-17 in bowl games. This is the sixth straight bowl game for the Panthers, after playing in three straight Compass Bowls, including back to back bowl losses, with the most recent vs. Ole Miss. Poinsettia Bowl: Northern Illinois (12-1) vs. Utah State (8-5) at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN (HD) It will be NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch's swan song for the Huskies, in a battle of MAC and MWC programs at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. Preview Northern Illinois is 4-4 in bowl games. The Huskies lost in last year's Orange Bowl to Florida State and are playing in their sixth straight bowl game. Utah State is 2-5 in bowl games. The Aggies are playing in their third straight bowl game, after winning the Idaho Potato Bowl last year over Toledo.

The three public schools that make up the Cedar Rapids Community Schools are a combined 3-15 this year.  Each school has one victory a piece.  That will change tonight, as Washington faces Jefferson at Kingston Stadium.  Go Warriors!

Friday Night Football: Utah show down on the eve of Cy-Hawk series in Iowa City on Saturday.

In Iowa, Friday night football is usually reserved for high schools throughout the State.  With the advent of television, we all know that certain conferences play an occasional football game on Friday night.  This week, it's a Pac 12 vs. WAC show down.

We will take the underdog in this one!  The Utah Utes are enjoying Year 2 in the Pac 12.  Utah State is typically third fiddle in the State of Utah, behind both Utah and BYU.  But, tonight a sell out crowd will likely be on hand to root for the Aggies, when the play the Utes.  The Utes can't afford to over look the Aggies, with BYU up next!

Week 2 began Thursday night, with the Cincinnati Bearcats (1-0, 1-0 Big East) taking down the Pitt Panthers (0-2, 0-1 Big East) 34-10 to open Big East play for 2012.

Saturday, September 8th will showcase a great array of games, including the Cy-Hawk Series game for 2012 between Iowa (1-0) vs. Iowa State (1-0), in Iowa City.  Other games in College Football.

The 2011-12 Bowl Season kicks off on Saturday with 3 Bowl Match Ups

The FBS kicks off the first of 35 bowl games in 2011-12, with the first three bowl games on Saturday. Too many? Sure, but when one considers 68 teams make the NCAA Basketball Tournament, is it that far fetched that 70 teams finish the season with a bowl game?

Big Ten leads with ten bowl spots. The Big Ten has a record ten teams in bowl games this year, including first-year member, Nebraska. The University of Iowa is playing in its tenth bowl in eleven years, under Kirk Ferentz, who is in his 13 season as head coach. Wisconsin will represent the Big Ten for the second straight year in the Rose Bowl.

Three other college football games play on Saturday. The Division II Championship Game and the NAIA Championship Game are played on Saturday, as well as the second semi-final game on the road to the FCS title game. On Friday, the first semi-final game in FCS was played, with Sam Houston State defeating Montana 31-28 at home.

Funny road to Independence for 1-4 BYU

The Brigham Young football program will become an Independent in 2011. But, after five games in 2010, the final season in the MWC, the Cougars are 1-4. The weakest start for BYU, since 1973.

BYU has lost four straight games, after losing @ Utah State (2-3) 16-31 on Friday night. Utah State won for the first time in 10 games vs. BYU, in this in-state rivalry.

Is becoming an Independent really the right thing BYU? After all, Notre Dame is 1-3 as an Independent heading into Week 5.

The first Friday of the 4Th quarter and EPSPN2 and the MTN Network each have a game between Big East teams and an intra state rivalry, respectively. The Pitt Panthers took care of business last year 41-7 over Louisville, but will a road test to open the Big East slate of the season for the Panthers be a 'trap' for coach Dave Wannstedt's team?

BYU has won nine straight in this in-state series. Last year, the Cougars won on the road 34-14. The last time in Provo, it was a BYU win 38-0 in '06
