ISU Cyclones win opener 44-17 fueled by 20 points off turnovers

It wasn't always pretty... turnovers, personal fouls and some busted plays, but Iowa State wins game #1 over South Dakota State, 47-17, with more than 46,000 fans cheering in Jack Trice Stadium tonight.

It was a great night for some newcomers and new starters, including the following:

• Frosh WR Sedrick Johnson scores his first TD reception in his debut


• Frosh PK Grant Mahoney hit 3 FGs and all his XPs in his debut


• Sophomore QB Austen Arnaud looked good in his first start

The Iowa State Cyclones (1-0) will face Kent State (3-9 in '07) on September 6th at Jack Trice. Kent State travels to Boston College on Saturday to open their season. Kent State defeated ISU 23-14 in last year's opener for both teams.
